How To Make Money With AdSense

Filed Under (AdSense optimization tips) by shaners on 15-11-2008

Its been a while since the last post. The main reason for this is because I have been focusing on How to make money with adsense. By creating AdSense websites or in this case wordpress adsense mini sites.

While I do understand that this topic of making money with adsense is incredibly overdone and over blogged. I figured I’d ad my two cents to making money with adsense.

First off what I am going to confess to here is that I am somewhat of a lazy blogger, by that I mean that I really dont want to have to figure it out and try to uncover some underlying secret to making money blogging using adsense as a business model. WHY because there really aren’t any secrets.

And anyone who tells you that they have found the secret is lying to you or trying to sell you something.

It’s really just choosing high paying AdSense keywords and niches and then doing it. You can read about it all day but until you start doing it you wont figure out what works and what doesn’t

SO what I am going to do here is provide you with the sources of information I use when planning an adsense niche blog and how I go about it and how it has been working out for me.

So what have I been doing exactly to make money with adsense and has it been working.

My main focus has been creating adsense mini sites (wordpress blogs). I’m not going after creating authority blogs and trying to be the expert ( I’m not an attention wh0re :-P). Nor am I going out and asking for piles of backlinks in the hopes of propelling myself to the top of the charts.

What I am doing is using micro niche finder to locate high paying adsense keywords choosing a keyword and then buying a domain name using that keyword.

High paying Adsense keyword niche

Sorry I’m not giving you the niche I chose here, Im sure you understand why !!

So to put it simply;

  1. I am targeting very specific keywords.
  2. finding blog niches around the keyword
  3. Buying that domain name where I can.
  4. Creating content to target that keyword
  5. Using adsense to monetize the posts.

Recently Garry Conn has been gushing out some great tips and Ideas to help you make money with adsense. Here are just a few to whet your appetite. Ive been reading Garry for over a year now and have been doing what he is writing about and all I can say is his methods for nailing down and creating adsense blogs work.

how to use the google adwords keyword tool

How I can make more money with AdSense

The other thing I wanted to know and verify for myself was Ad placements and are there AdSense case studies talking about Google adsense ad placements. The reason being was that I wanted to know for myself If I was on the right track with what I was doing.

Cath Lawson has some great tips inclidung links to Adsense case studies. Post title: 3 ways to increase your google adsense revenue

The next area I was curious about was Am I on the right track about optimizing my posts for Adsense So I reffered to Grizz’s blog.

One of my more favoured make money blogging blogs is Grizz over at make money online for beginners. Hes got real in the trenches content and usually pulls no punches. This post AdSense optimization tips I am sure you’ll find helpful along with some or most of the other content.

So using basically these three sources, my own imagination and a template that garry conn released I set out to see if this will work. What I did was set a seperate AdSense Account. Yeah I am that dumb, like I said I am lazy and like things fast and easy. Remember I said I was going for a buck a day on the new blog.

So Okay I didnt get a buck a day but I also haven’t been doing anything with it either. What I did was find a keyword bought that domain name used google alerts to find relevant content created 8 posts and went live and let it ride at that as a test bed.

As for the template I am using. And another reason why this post is or was along time coming was I wanted to test this theme that Garry Conn and David Cooley (cyber coder) concocted. Make money online by building profitable niche blogs

Yeah but what about getting the blog indexed, if you’re on my list you already know how I go about getting my blogs indexed in 24hrs. Along those lines Aaron Abber has a few great vids detailing how he got his blog Fun Home Theater indexed in like 19 hr.

Hope this post about how to make money with AdSense was useful.

Ego Marketing

Filed Under (Niche marketing) by shaners on 19-10-2008

Ive been sitting on this post idea for a while, but have been busy doing other things with my time to get around to it (round tuit). I have a round tuit on my desk. My girlfriend gave me one a few years ago as a gift, because Im always getting a round tuit, know what I mean?

At any rate. A while back I was sitting in front of the mind killer (TV) and a dove commercial came on and It made me jump up out of my Sloth and laziness and got the mental juices going. Why? well when you see it you’ll know why.

It hits right at the core of what we all know to be true. All truths do that huh. I’ll post the viddy at the bottom of this post so you can get a beter Idea what I’m on about int his post.

Marketing to the Ego. And Identity enhancers

Alot if not all marketing is aimed at a core personal belief, Idea, want or desire that we have lying inside of us that is unfulfilled.

A.K.A ” Im need more money” I’m too fat” I’m not pretty enough” etc etc etc. And is based on more or not enough of, not good enough, not rich enough….. Right? or wrong?

The advertising industry knows very well that in order to sell something that you dont really need or want, you must be convinced that you need or want it. You should see my bathroom. I cant count how many types of shampoos, hand creams, tooth pastes etc that we have !!! And that just a small sampling of what we buy based off of marketing alone.

So the clever marketers that the industry empoys along with high priced pyschologists must try to convince you that these things they are selling you MUST ADD SOMETING TO HOW YOU SEE YOURSELF.

Read that again, you are being told how you see yourself and that these products will some how enhance that self image. Which is the basis of all ego identification.

Tell people what and how they see themselves, because they really don’t know and must be told it.

I’m 42 years old, I have a head full of grey hair, I look old. No-one likes old, I wont get a girlfriend or laid on friday night with grey hair, so I need hair club for men in order to solve that problem, better run and buy a six pack of brown hair colour NOW!!

In other words the products that are being marketed to you , or the products you are marketing to others must convince them that the products will some how enhance their identity, or add something to their sense of self. (sell the benefits)

How is this done? They out right tell you that if you buy this you will look younger and more vital. See you have to be told and must tell other people what they think, what to think, what to do. (call to action)

You and they are marketing to an idea, a desire that people have to be more like an ideal image that they have of themselves. And so after buying this or that product thay will be more fully themselves.

Images sell by creating an identity

Other ways this is done kind go like this. Using an actor or famous person, (alive or dead, it doesnt seem to matter) well known person to sell you an identity. If you buy this product you will be like them.

Youthful and attractive and rich people are used to sell an image as well.

Place images of people who are youthful, attractive and living the life. Car and boats and houses sell this image as well.

In short what image (image sells) does you product hope to create. Because you must create an image, and identity for your product in order to sell it. Image is everything.

You are not selling a product but an indentity enhancer. Your product must enhance an identity. Find an identity and find a product that enhances it and sell it.

Psychological value of high priced items.

Why do high priced items sell so well? Quite simply because they are expensive. The more expensive the more exclusive they are. If everyone could afford to buy them they would lose their psychological value wouldnt they?

So price your product high.

If you really think about it and how crazy it really is. Is that consumption is propped on trying to find ourselves in things, which doesnt work ( or does it?) The ego satisfaction you get out buying something is short lived isnt it. You by a new pair of shoes feel good about for a nano seond then you’re out looking for a newer pair of shoes, feel good about it for a nano second then…..

Case in point: We bought a 42 inch LCD HDTV a while back. We were sitting in front of it watching a hockey game . And my girlfriend says we need a bigger TV !!! How big I asked she says 60 inch. I asked her why do we need a 60 inch tv, she replied because its bigger (bigger is better?).

Marketing to a real world or a concept of one?

Truth be told most of us dont inhabit a “real world” but a conceptualized one. An Idea of what we like to be, not who we really are. We all know that yet we seek to fullfill the conceptualized idea of the life we want to live. And we do this by buying things we dont really need?

You need to find or create a conceptualized identity and find products that fullfill that idea.

The thing is, we live in a world full of things and objects and we use things and objects to make us feel better about ourselves, right or wrong it is the truth. Be honest with yourself for a second here. Does buying this or that thing give a you a sense of feeling more, or better than somebody else. Does not having them make you feel less than someonelse? Do you feel somehow less (or maybe a bit resentful) than someone else when you see someone with an object that you want but cant or dont have.

And THAT is EGO marketing

Are you selling the click ?

Filed Under (blog seo) by shaners on 05-10-2008

So I was just doing some stats analysis, (google analytics) as I usually do. I’m a little obsessive about stats to be honest.

What I usually do is I log into google analytics.

Select one of the many sites/blogs and view stats.

I typically view the overall which is a month worth of data, then select the day and have a look at what keywords brought me what traffic and then I look at the referrers and what they brought, then I select view content and see whare the traffic is going, what they landed on etc.

Then I select top landing pages, both for the day and the month as an overall.

So Usually about once a week I take a good long look and select the year to date, I just change the 2008 to 2007 and see what is going on for the last year.

I’ll tell you what I get out of this and then ask a question of you.

When I look at the top 10 keywords then I go to google and drop the keywords into the search I look for how many first page rankings I get off of the keyword in question.

Now here Is my question for you.

I have a keyword phrase , it’s a 5 word phrase (long tail phrase-more then 3 words) which has a first page and first listing.

The phrase has 177,000 competing pages and my clicks for that term for the year were 204.

Ive always been curious and am aware of what alot of the common knowledge is about first page first listing means, But I have always been curious about the actual click through numbers on page one for each listing.

You know

first list (how many or what percentage of the search volume for the phrase results in clicks)

2nd list

etc etc etc

Then I looked at the description line. It is exactly as It appears on the page description and then asked myself would I click through to it.

Then it dawned on me Am I really selling the click?

Have found this to be the case on your pages and posts, are you selling the click? and what are your thoughts on what should be a good click through rate for the page one ranking and first listing.

Depending on the search volume numbers, is there a good click through rate number?
