AdSense Optimization Tips For A Higher Click Through Rate

Have you ever wondered how the highest Adsense earners are making their money? Lots of others are as well and so did I. There’s been plenty of buzz on a lot of forums about how to optimize and get targeted AdSense ads to appear on your site and how to increase your AdSense CTR.
Lots of bloggers try to monetize their blog, or their websites by trying to use Google AdSense to make money without really having a firm grasp of how to serve up relevant ads.
Visit any of the forums and you’ll see many questions about these types of AdSense optimization problems that webmasters are having.
Question:“What google adsense size ad has got you the highest click through rate. Currently the 368×280 ad size has worked decently on my site. Any suggestions on other high ctr ads sizes to use and how to display them?”
it’s not solely the size of the Ad
Question:“I’m only making $0.03/click right now. Is there any ways to improve? How can I make over hundreds a day like everyone else in the fourm? Please help~”
Answer: “It could be smart pricing, your choice of niche, or a variety of other reasons. Without knowing more it’s all just a guess.”
The above forum threads are the reason why this information I am about to show you needs to be known.
For the most part the answers run the range of Geez who knows to; Ad more content and get more traffic.
The main theme to all these questions is how to make relevant AdSense ads appear on their sites.
Or how to target their ads to their content to get increased clicks on them and thereby improve their AdSense CTR.
RULE NO#1: Aim at making your ads relevant to the theme and content and providing a useful viewer experience and the clicks will take care of themselves.
But as I said they’re focusing on the wrong target. Ie: which ad block, which position for the ad block. While these are factors they’re not the only thing that matters.
The only thing that matters is making the ads relevant to the content and theme of your blog or website.Making the AdSense part of the visiting experience.
After having read a lot of forum posts and some of the better known Adsense e-books I decided to set about the task of proving the theories. Quite frankly I found a lot the e-books very vague to say the very least. I found this was the case as well for the Google Adsense site itself.
All of them and I mean all of them will tell you this:(don’t waste your money)
- how to get an Adsense account,
- how to change the color palettes to camouflage your ads on the page.
- Which ads are best “in their own opinion” Such as the 336×280 above the fold. And it goes on and on, but none of them have actually done the home work (or show you it) or dug into the best performing websites and stripped them down to show you what they’re doing to get the high returns that these sites do.
This is the point of this series of posts.
SO I’ve decided to do just that.I know you have heard the hyped up stories of web masters making an out right killing on Adsense. But have you really put much thought into HOW they do it.
As I mentioned ….I did a Google search for:

You might try something similar, but this was enough to point me in the right direction. Then I looked at some of the better known sites such as about.com, which bring in highly targeted traffic based on various searches and content. To figure out how the big boys in the market place are optimizing their pages for Adsense.
And what I came up with was this:

So I went to his site, johnchow.com. He has a list of the 8 highest paying Adsense sites on there. (It’s changed up a bit since I did my research)
So I chose just one of them Freeweblayouts.net and did a little reverse engineering. Using a technique I learned from Day job Killer.
Instead of being all wordy I’ll layout it out in pictures. I learn better when I can actually see what is going on. I hope you do as well.
The following posts will get into that.
