Building blogs around high demand products our killer find
Filed Under (How to make money blogging, Niche marketing, how to find a blog niche) by shaners on 19-07-2008
So lately Ive been working on a new blog project with Forest Parks of TheRandomForest.com and Joe Swopes of IMwithjoe.
We’ve found a very cometitive and lucrative niche that we’re going to be creating a blog or series of blogs around very specific keywords. This niche is lucrative and will make money because it is a high demand product niche. And you should definately consider that when deciding on going into business.
Is there a demand for the product and are people willing or already spending money in that niche
One great and easy way to figure that out is found ona prior post using ebay to find niche markets
If you’ve been reading this blog for anylength of time you’ve gotten an insight as to how I choose blog niches. And what methods I use to find and target high demand low competition keywords for blogs.
Our plan has a few key elements to it.
As I said we discovered a lucrative market that we feel we can compete in fairly well. The market is very saturated and very competitve and very lucative. I have very basic approach to niche finding, and that is this: Go where people are known to spend money and open up shop.
The phrase is a 2 word phrase I dont have the search numbers in front of me right at the moment but it is ridiculously competitive.
So whats the solution? When I looked at the phrase I thought wow thats a freaking gold mine but man is it competitive. So I am going to go in the back door. What do I mean by that? well quite simply when I looked at the results for the main phrase I also was looking for longer phrases with lower competition numbers and many more of the phrases, chose a few phrases containing the the main keyword or synonyms of the main keyword (10-20 of them) which in total more or less added up to the same number as the main 2 word keyword phrase I chose for the domain name and the phrase which I am targeting. And then I am going to be building content around those phrases. Heres a great explanation “how many keywords per page” by Aaron Abber of my strategy and I am using this to break into this blog niche market
Is this a good strategy? I think so, as there is no way in hell at the outset that I am going to rank anytime soon for the main 2 word phrase. I have to go in the back door and develope content around the main phrase.
I just recently, last tuesday maybe, bought the domain name for it. If you’re wondering how we chose the Domain name then go to garryconns post how to choose a domain name for your blog.
Which is the first step. Our main focus with the domain for the blog(s) is keyword search focused) not so much going after or creating a brandname for the blog(s).
The first blog we are starting is going to target the main broad keyword for the blog niche we’re in, with a few other blogs coming out that will target other more narrow and more speicific keywords.
Then we’re going to link them to each other using the lower more narrow keyword blogs to feed the other main but more broad keyword blog. The three main blogs are going to sit on different servers with different hosting companies.
A later part of the strategy will involve the creating of other keyword focused blogs on subdomains.
Part of this strategy is create a network of blogs in the same niche going after the lower hanging fruit and acting as feeder blogs for the main keyword blog.
The business model is very basic.
- Targeted organic traffic created by specific keyword rich content.
- Drive the traffic to posts and pages.
- Use (currently) 4 means of monetization. Google Adsense. Pepper jam ads, e-bay auctions, And Affiliate products from Clickbank and Commission junction.
The content strategy for the first blog (main keyword blog) was developed using a combination of Microniche finder results for braod keyword searches and back checking the keywords using google keyword external. Then checking the first results for competition using Allinanchor: Allintext: and allinanchor: then triple checking the finds with seo elite to see who is competitng for those phrases and who they Stack up on a one to one SEO basis.
The findings were to say the least startling. The pre-liminary finds of about the first 10 or so main keywords we’re going to be using for post titles and page titles had ABSOLUTELY NO COMPETITION yet they are high demand phrases.
Always double and triple check your results !!! and never rely on anyone peice of software or tool. Yes this requires work
