How to use googles keyword tool to find a seasonal niche
Filed Under (Niche marketing) by shaners on 03-09-2006
I was doing some research after getting my mail box flooded with flyers today. I was wondering, what with the holiday season coming up. Seems like every flyer company is jumpng on the x-mas season already. So I took this as a hint and was curious how I could find out how seasonal a niche might be, or how often keywords get used during certain times of the year.
So what I did was to go to the Google Keyword Tool:
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
I entered “cottage” (enter what ever your chosen niche happens to be) into the
Keyword Box. Then from the “Data to Display” drop-down box, i selected
“Global Search Volume trends”. Then i clicked the Get More Keywords button.
With the cottaging niche, you’ll see that most keywords have their highest search volume in January. That’s interesting to know. Since Wordtracker keep three months of data, you should research your cottage niche towards the end of jan to capture the data
before the peak of the cottage season, which is kind of weird becaue i didnt think that jan would be a hot market for that keyword at that time of the year. It kind of boggled my mind how many searches and types of keywords for cottage were or are being used especially in January. I never would have thought that cottage was so hot in Jan (pardon the humour)
So what this means is that starting now you have 5 months to plan and get your cottage site up with high quality content and in good ranking position.
