I’M SURE YOU COULD READ THE TITLE OF THAT POST ANOTHER WAY :-p I had a bit of a brawl with my girlfriend Saturday night over the topic of “the house is a mess”. Now let me start by saying that our house is anything but a MESS. But none the less we had a fight about it. (ok maybe there’s something to her claims) she’s what I would call a clean freak.

Here’s a new rule to add to your arsenal of blog niche finding tools: FIGHTS FIND NICHES

It’s actually quite funny how this “fight” began. We’re in the middle of buying a new house or looking to buy a new house. She asked me I wanted to look at some listings on the net. I told her I was interested right now. Then there was this weird silence. I know from past experience what that silence means. (im about the get blasted for something).

Sure enough the blasting began. And was it interesting. I’ll explain why in a few minutes. So keep reading.

Pay attention to what I am putting in quotes down below. the Title of this post will make so much more sense.

Now haven’t you ever found this to be the case - what you’re fighting about isnt really what you’re fighting about, you’re really fighting about something else? This something else turns out to be niche. Confused yet? Good keep reading….

My girlfriend is very expressive without really ever coming up with solutions to what she’s expressing. Sometimes anyways.But when she gets something in her head watch her go!!

This is where your skill set as a niche finder and blogger comes in handy.

I’m more problem solving orientated. Which is quite a problem at times. Every solution I give usually ends up uncovering more problems.

Now to continue and justify my position. It wasnt that I wasnt interested in looking at real estate listings at that moment but that the

• “House is a mess” - disagree
• “Things aren’t organized“- somewhat agree
• “Theres too much clutter” HUH ??
• You need to “organize your receipts” LOL
• our “kitchen is disorganzied” OH YEAH
• we need more “storage boxes” - have tons already why more? and for what
• The “christmas ornaments are all disorganized” - they’re in boxes aren’t they?
• We need “labels on things” -umm ok
• We dont have a “family command center” - Hahahaha whats that? are we in the military?

This went back and forth and the list of all the things that are wrong with the house went on for quite sometime.

Ok call me a jerk if you like but while she was expressing and venting and we were fighting. All I heard or was hearing, was things she is passionate about in other words I was thinking in my head niche, niche, niche.

It’s part of her personality to be the little organizer (even though she doesnt know where her keys are on a good day:-P) and she does a great job of keeping things on track and in order as well as being a good networker. I leave the “party planning” and “event planning” to her. (other niches - see where I am going with this?)

Most of these things are Not my strong suit to be quite honest.

Remember in series of tips to find a blog niche. I mentioned that one of the keys to being successful as a blogger is to have a passion for your niche, this fuels your desire to write and keep the fresh content coming. I am almost dead certain if she were to get fired up about this niche she could run a very productive and content rich blog.

This brings up another very good way of finding blog niches. In the prior series we covered the idea of coming up with solutions to peoples problems. If you’re still kinda stuck with finding a niche for your blog, then try to find out.

What are other people passionate about

So after we sort of resolved this little spat we had I blurted out “wow that’s a great niche for a blog for you“. Needless to say that didn’t go over too well at the moment.

I’ve done a little bit of research into this niche: Heres some of my early findings.

Some google results in this niche. Using some of the phrases she blurted out.

93,200 for “declutter your home”
declutter your home

34,000 for “how to organize your home”
1,900,000 for “home organization”

what’s interesting is that wordtracker has 5,218 total searches for this one phrase

864,000 for “house clean”
130,000 for “how clean is your house”

85,400 for “sick house”

104,000 for “closet organizing”
5,890 for “closet organizing tips” really though this is a product search in my mind 893,000 for “closet organizers”

2,300 for “organizing receipts”
2,260 for “organizing bedroom”
853 for “declutter bedroom”

From the looks of this market at a first glance this is a niche with hungry buyers. The websites I browsed quickly have all sorts of products being offered, the right side of the search results are crammed with advertisers. So theres an inventory of advertisers for an AdSense campaign.

So theres an income potential in this niche and many of the smaller off shoots.

Then what do you think she was doing yesterday? Not what you’d expect given the topics we discussed. Oh no she’s off in another niche togethor. FENG SHUI. Where this came about god only knows. I wish I could have been at the computer while she was searching, to see how she came upon this niche market. The feng shui market is a very interesting niche all onto its own. Do some looking into it !!!
