Here’s a cool little trick you can use to if you have new blog or website that you want to have the Search engines find.

Facebook is all the rage now and has somewhere in the region of 80 million users. So thats a whole lot of exposure. I’m not saying you’re going to get 80 million friends. But the power of its social networking is more or less un-rivaled.

Just by way of example My girlfriend has somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 “friends”

So if she were inclined to do so and post a link. That link on her facebook profile (account)  would have the potential of being seen by at least 200 other people.

And just by the Viral nature of Facebook and the fact that a majority of the people on her facebook account actually know her and trust her, they would be willing to click and follow the link and or post it on their walls, or share the link. Something to think about!!

As you can see from the picture Facebook has a high Page Rank (PR).

What this means for you the new blogger who is having a tough getting your new blog indexed and picked up in the search engine is this:

Facebook can give you a high PR backlink.

Because Face book is constantly being updated by it’s users it also gets crawled by the search engines frequently. This only makes sense because this is the nature of the search engines.

They like frequently updated sites.

In this case when I view the Pagerank from my facebook homepage. It is 7/10. So this is a powerful means of getting high PR backlinks From a frequently update site that the search engines just love.
