Who Am I ?

aidans-hockey-258.jpgHi, this is Shane Higginbottom

and welcome to make money blogging

A bit about me:

I’m a 40 year Canadian guy I have a 6 year old boy and a girlfriend (complicated story). I’m a blue collar worker (plumber, custom home builder).

I made the leap to marketing online “full time” At the end of 2006 back when I had some good weeks of earnings. Tough decision. I “work” at my day job part time to supplement my income (family business) Thank god for that.

We struggle to make ends meet at times. Fortunately (hard work) I have had some good months as an affiliate, (if only I had been tracking. I would have been able to figure what I did and reproduce it) Good tip there (track everything) oh and test everything many times. You’ll find something that works then just repeat it over and over again, while testing it along the way.

This is how I was raised.

I have strong blue collar work ethic values. Nothing has come to me other than by the result of my having had to work hard at it. Quitting isn’t part of my vocabulary. Failures are lessons.

In my world nothing is more important than your word and doing what you say you’re going to do) too many BS talkers and not enough who walk what they talk) . If you’re going to deliver then over deliver. The quality of what you produce and workmanship speak louder than what comes out of your mouth.

I’ve been making money blogging for a while, first just as a hobby-ish thing.

Then I realized that there was this world of affiliate marketing.

And have been trying to make a business of it (seriously) for about a year and a bit now, like I said building it slowly and carefully. (Actually the first site I came across about making money online was associateprograms.com , and have been on board ever since.)

I’ve sacrificed many outings and other things because I’ve been busy building and reading and studying, researching and producing. I’ve spent many late nights burning the mid-night oil, (doing keyword research for blog post titles and content – I’m odd I love doing it :-P). All of which has paid off for me with organic search results !!

I’ve gotten nagged at by friends and family with the usual doubt and fear mongering stuff “the internet is full of scam artists” “get a real job” “you’ll never make any money online”. “get a government job it has full benefits and a pension”

I’m sure you’ve heard all the lofty epithets as well. Sorry but trading time for money is a bad business model, has always been my response and I go back to building. That’s been my life and experience in a nutshell for the past year or so.

While I do understand that there is a lot of competition in the IM and make money blogging Niche I don’t choose to see others as competitors, I choose to see them as potential best friends, after we all have a passion for doing what we’re doing and I want to make friends with others who share this passion for creating. Which is why, I suppose I choose to pre-face this with the blurb you’re reading now.

The goal of this Blog and my home website making money blogging (needs an overhaul) is to give you all the tools and information you need to jump start your own blogging home based business on the internet.

My main goal with this blog is to help you improve the quality of your life through your blog business.

I want to make your life better.

Words I live By where it concerns my business
“In whatever market you are trying to do business in, whether it’s setting up AdSense sites, promoting affiliate products, selling your own infoproducts, running an online store, or anything else, what is your answer to this question”

Are you truly making someone’s life better?

shanepic.jpg“If you are selling a product that really doesn’t provide much value (even, though, you make some nice profit selling it) then you are NOT making someone’s life better. And, ultimately, your business will lose you just don’t realize it yet.

If you are selling some program or money making system that doesn’t really work or only 1 out of 1,000 people (if they’re lucky) make money with it then you are NOT making someone’s life better.

If you are sending out emails to your list that are mainly just promotions for other products then you are NOT making someone’s life better.

If you’re too focused on making YOUR life better with the money you will make from your business, the odds are good that you aren’t making people’s lives better with what you do. And the ironic part is, this will keep you from making a lot of money.

Your business must be built around truly making people’s lives better or you are, ultimately, doomed to fail online. Write that down. NOW.”
